The Day Before Tomorrow

02/01/2009
On our second last day we went for the NBC the UN, a Public Libary and Maceys. The may be great fun for girls but lacks much for man amd two boys - ben and jerrys excepted . The NBC will happen the day after today but the UN happened today and was a great suprise. We (I) queued for 60mins + with tickets running out as we approached the ticket desk and the tour start times pushing out to 16:30 (it was only just 13:00) but then a new tour was scheduled and off we went without delay with the head of the tours service. She was full of energy and convayed wonderfully the hope that resides with the UN and the work it does.

For those that want to generate funds to help feed people must go to www.playforrice.com which generates funds for the UN Food program via the adverts.

The New York Public Library was stunning and certainly ranks as an unexpected find. We went there to see one of the sites used for the 'Day After Tomorrow' film and were stunned by the beauty of the place. A must.

2009 - Happy New Year but my bike is stolen (mike)

01/01/2009
Is it really 9 years since we saw in the new millenium, wondered if the world would end due to that date bug, and had to stop a 3 year old Jeremy draining our wine glasses?

We took thinks easy today and after bagels and buns for a lite breakfast we hit the swimming pool only to find it divded into lanes for... swimming. Sorry kids not much fun there! No matter we did a few lengths, scared off the locals and then started the serious bis. of splash battles and drown your brother games.

The day was some what spoilt when we contacted home only to hear that my 'new' road bike has been stolen - the outside door had a panel kicked in to gain access on the bike was gone, sadly this is the second bike to go missing in the space of a couple of months. Fortunately no one was hurt and the bike can be replaced with a bigger and better model given the credit crunch fuelled sales!

Our single touristy bit was a visit to the Modern Art Gallery and that had the boys going round saying 'thats not art', 'I can do that' etc Jeremy was specifically strict as he would not accept photos as art!

If any one sees a Giant SCR LTD for sale let me know...
